ACADIA Academy

ACADIA Academy is a charter public elementary school serving students in PreK through grade 6. True to its identity as "A Charter Academy for Developing Independence & Achievement," ACADIA centers the whole child, weaving social-emotional learning throughout the school day and across every subject. Teachers come to know their students as individuals with distinct needs and learning styles, while the leadership team supports engaging, multimodal instruction with the scheduling flexibility to meet learners where they are. A hallmark of the academic program is ACADIA's Universal Groups, in which students are grouped for reading and math by academic level rather than grade level, allowing for more targeted instruction. The school's exploratory learning block invites students to drive their own learning and create projects they share with the community at exhibitions three times a year — events that draw strong family attendance and reflect ACADIA's close-knit culture. Schoolwide, ACADIA uses the BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks) framework and its U-Time social-emotional curriculum to ensure every student is known, supported, and helped to set and reach personal goals. Now in its tenth year, ACADIA reports above-average student attendance and highly engaged families, supported by a dedicated staff and a governing board of trustees focused on strong stewardship as the school looks toward continued growth.
