Community Regional Charter School

Community Regional Charter School is a charter public school serving students from kindergarten through grade 12 in central Maine. Guided by its mission to be "Community-Centered and Uncompromisingly Learner Focused," CRCS is built around an ungraded, customized learning model: rather than traditional grade levels, learning is organized by each student's readiness and proficiency, so every learner can move at an appropriate pace while staying challenged. Students demonstrate proficiency in multiple ways and have voice and choice in how they show their progress, within a safe, respectful, and nurturing community where each learner is known well.CRCS delivers its program across three academies — Dimensions Academy (grades K–5) in Cornville, and Overman Academy (grades 6–12) and Creative Children's Academy in Skowhegan — and draws students from more than 40 towns across the region, supported by a school-run transportation network. A standards-based curriculum aligned to the Maine Learning Results is paired with strong individualized supports, including a Learning Coach program that gives each student a consistent adult mentor for academics, social-emotional growth, and college and career planning, alongside a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) and restorative practices. The school places a strong emphasis on whole-child development and community connection. As a Community Eligibility Provision school, CRCS provides breakfast and lunch at no cost to every student, anchored by a scratch-cooking, farm-to-table nutrition program with on-campus gardens and livestock that double as hands-on learning. Through partnerships with local organizations and a governing board focused on strong stewardship, CRCS works to connect classroom learning directly to the communities it serves.
